You will be picked from your hotel at 5:30pm. The exciting itinerary begins with atmospheric Dhow Sundowner Cruise which offers an outstanding view of the Old Port from the water.

After docking our guide will lead you on walk through the historic Old Town to the 400 year old fortress of Fort Jesus. Built by the Portuguese as a stronghold at the entrance to the harbour, the ancient fort is a stunning example of 16th century military architecture that has survived centuries of attack and conquest. Here you will be welcomed by Portuguese and Arab fire-bearers before witnessing a dazzling sound and light show that is followed by a sumptuous dinner served alfresco within the ramparts of the Fort for a truly unforgettable dining experience. After this memorable experience of lifetime you will be taken back to your hotel.

Mombasa City Tour and Kisite day trip

Once in Mombasa, my boyfriend and I asked Patrick for a tour for the next day. Despite the short notice, Patrick organized a visit to the city the next day. In the first half we visited some of the most outstanding areas of the city with Patrick by car. The tour with Patrick was very pleasant and the conversation with him very interesting. The second part was a walking route through the old town and the different markets, and a magnificent guided visit to Fort Jesus with an official city guide, Shee, a kind and polite gentleman who explained everything to us in great detail. As we were very satisfied with the tour, we asked Patrick about other tours he offered near Mombasa and he recommended a visit to the island of Kisite, where we could snorkel and swim with dolphins. Once on the island we ate especially well and had a tour where we could see how the locals live. We recommend Patrick without a doubt!

This half day Mombasa city tour covers Mombasa Island, which is the largest coastal gateway town-port of Kenya. This Mombasa city tour takes you into the most fascinating part of Mombasa – The old town that is a maze of narrow crooked lanes with many old Arab houses with their beautifully carved doors and over-hanging balconies.

Visit the old harbour, which is still used by dhows; built by the Portuguese in 1593. Fort Jesus, now a museum is a must for all visitors. Walk through the picturesque Bazaar, Market and Indian Temple; cross to the main land to see the Akamba carvers at work.

The Only Tour Guide You Need In Mombasa.

From first contact, Patrick remained prompt, professional and helpful in booking our full day private tour in his comfortable AC vehicle during our 1 day in Mombasa. We had a check list of things we wanted to see and he accommodated them in his quiet manner. All day, he answered our questions about Kenya's history, politics, culture and industry. We felt safe in Mombasa but expect the worst traffic jams you have ever envisioned; no lights, no lanes.... just honk and inch forward with the tuk tuks, mutatuos, cars, etc! Patrick, of course, knew how to get us to our requested stops. For Patrick, a young father of 4 , who lives with limited resources eg( expensive wireless, no AC), it is a hard life. "Tourists don't come there any more " Still, he is up beat, gentle, and even hopeful especially for his 14 year old son who is very bright and wants to be a lawyer. Poverty, aids, unemployment all contribute to a very low standard of living and it was remarkable to see this excellent guide work hard to make a success of his tour guide vocation with so much stacked against him. We promised to keep in personal contact because we now consider Patrick the face of Kenya and are hopeful for his and his country's future success. If you want to spend a day with a bright, kind, knowledgeable local who will give you a taste of what life is like today in Mombasa, book Patrick!.
