Treetops Lodge

Accommodation in Aberdare National Park, Treetops Lodge

Sited in the heart of the dense lichen hung forest for the Aberdare National Park's Salient, Treetops overlooks two waterholes and a salt lick, both of which attract a great variety of animals. On clear days you can even see the snowy peaks of Mount Kenya. The lodge boasts two photographic hides at ground level - a great way to get up close shots of unsuspecting rhinos, elephants, bucks or even lions.

Floating at 6,450 feet above sea level, deep in the in Aberdare National Park is the Treetops Lodge. Kenya's original tree lodge is located facing a water hole and a salt lick in the Aberdares National Park that attracts a lot of wildlife.

Treetops Lodge is also famous for its historical royal connection. One afternoon in February of 1952, a young English girl climbed the fig tree as a Princess. The following morning, she descended as Queen Elizabeth II - her father, King George VI, had died in the night.

Treetops Lodge offers accommodation in 50 cabins which are very small, an explanation for leaving bulky luggage overnight at Aberdares Country Club and allowing just one handbag to each person.
