Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is an extraordinary opportunity to immerse yourself in the wonders of nature. This privately owned conservation area was established in 1972 by Hilton International and boasts a mesmerizing array of wildlife, making it a perfect destination for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The sanctuary is located on the foot of the Taita Hills adjacent to Tsavo West National Park. It serves as a major dispersal region and migrating corridor for animals between Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks, making it a highly valued tourism recreational area as well as an ecologically significant location. The sanctuary covers an area of 110 square kilometers and covers riverine forest, savanna, wood, and grassland.

Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is home to cape buffalo, African bush elephant, leopard, lion, cheetah, Masai giraffe, zebra, hartebeest, impala, waterbuck, Thomson's gazelle, lesser kudu, dik-dik, hyena, and a variety of birds.

A highlight of this safari will be your stay at Salt Lick Safari Lodge. The lodge was designed by retired British engineer John Corry Firth and was inspired by traditional Taita architecture. It is a favorite among travelers since it is located in the middle of the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary overlooking a waterhole and the huge Tsavo plains.
