Embark on an adventurous trip through Kenya's Rift Valley lakes. Volcanic activity created the Great Rift Valley millions of years ago. As a result of its stunning landscape, it is now considered one of Kenya's most visited tourist destinations. There are eight lakes in the Kenyan Rift Valley; three of them are freshwater lakes while the others are alkaline. The shallow soda lakes of the Eastern Rift Valley are home to large flocks of flamingos.
You will experience a variety of scenery on our safari, including steep cliffsides, arid savannahs, and lush green woods. We promise that this safari holiday will be a memorable experience for you.
Lake Nakuru is a soda lake and one of Kenya's most beautiful national parks. The park, surrounded by rocky cliffs and patches of acacia forest, is beautiful all year and home to black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, hippos, and endangered Rothschild's giraffes.
Lake Baringo is a freshwater lake and the second largest one in Kenya's Rift Valley. The lake is home to hippopotamuses, crocodiles and a wide diversity of birds such as flamingos, fish eagles, and pelicans.
Lake Bogoria is one of the best places in Africa to view geysers and hot springs. The largest and most active of the three geysers that are still active is located in the southern part of the lake, at Loburu. The second largest geyser on the lake is Chermurkeu, which is located slightly farther south. Lush green forests line the shores of the lake supporting a variety of wildlife. The main attraction is the pink flamingos that occupy the lake any time of the year.
Maasai Mara is one of the most famous wildlife reserves in the world and is home to the famous wildebeest migration. The National Reserve is also known for its abundance of wildlife and high population of lions, leopards, cheetahs, and elephants. The park was named in honor of the Maasai tribe who are the ancestral inhabitants of the area. Masai Mara is located southwest of Kenya along the border of Tanzania and is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Extra Tip - The Great Migration
Every year between July to October the Great Migration takes place at Maasai Mara where millions of wildebeest, thousands of zebras, eland, gazelles, and other animals traverse from the Serengeti and make the dangerous attempt to cross the Mara River to reach the lush savannahs in search of greener pastures and water. It’s all about the food!
For years, drought has plagued parts of Africa, leading to a sharp decline in the availability of food. As a result, animals and birds that live in areas that are drought-prone have migrated toward areas with more resources resulting in the world’s greatest movement of animals. This epic natural phenomenon was recognized by UNESCO and Masai Mara’s ecosystem earned the status as one of the Seven Wonders Of The World. The Great Migration is an amazing spectacle; join us in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. A must-see for anyone visiting Kenya!
